CW EVALUATION

A glove made to a higher standard

FEW PIECES OF SAFETY GEAR GET AS much attention as gloves. No surprise, really. After all, motorcyclists perform a great number of tasks with their hands, and good feel is tantamount to machine control. This is why so many riders place comfort and fit at the top of their lists when buying a pair of gloves.

Velocity Gear is a new player in the glove market. The Exhibition Pro features Grade-A, CEspec cowhide, TPU

knuckle and finger guards, Schoeller Keprotec stitching and Knox SPS scaphoid protection. Good stuff.

We knew from the moment we stuck our digits in the Exhibition Pro that this is a well-designed glove. Pre-curved fingers provide a snug, comfortable fit with little, if any, break-in required. Thanks to the short gauntlet, the Pro is easy to don and doff—a major bonus when you’re commuting or running errands on a motorcycle. An adjustable hook-and-loop wrist closure keeps the Pro securely on your hand.

That Velocity Gear could develop a glove that exceeds European CE standards for “Professional Motorcycle Gloves” at a price well below that of many of its non-certified competitors (to be fair, no such standard currently exists in the U.S.) is a noteworthy achievement. In fact, all four styles of Velocity gloves pass or exceed those same standards.

In our six months of daily commuting in our Exhibition Pros, plus regular sport and adventure riding, the gloves look virtually new. All seams remain intact, the hook-and-loop tape is still tacky and the leather shows no sign of wear. □
