CHOPPED CHAIR
Guess we should have seen it coming. After all, what better way would there be to catch Paul Sr., Paulie and Mikey larking about, not to mention all those Tivo’d episodes of “Biker BuildOff,” than in a one-off (okay, one of 30) chair that looks like it might have been penned by the king of customs himself, Arlen Ness, and hand-pinstriped by none other than the late, great Von Dutch? Lookin’ cool while lazin’ about is gonna cost you big time-$15K, to be precise. That’s what Los Angeles industrial designer Gene Gordon wants for his GothRod (www.chopperchairs. com). Part art, part fashion and all attitude, the framed-in-aluminum-and-steel chair features a hand-tooled, mahogany-dyed leather back and seat that move independently on modified “springer” suspension. Skull-topped shifter lowers fold-out footpegs for the laid-back look and feel of a custom cruiser. Just keep your hands and feet clear of all those sharp bits, and don’t forget your helmet.
