Manufactured from water-jet-cut aluminum welded by computer-controlled robots, the patent-pending RRR replaces the passenger seat or seat cowl on most late-model Japanese sportbikes. Installation couldn’t be easier, the six-sided, flat-bottomed tray locking into place using the bike’s standard hooks, tabs or guide pins-no tools needed. Ten oval-shaped eyes provide secure mounting points for bungee cords or nets. An optional $40 bracket (shown) with strap functions as a temporary cowl or seat holder.

Maximum carrying capacity could, in theory, equal that of a passenger, but given that the weight is located high and rearward, we limited carry-ons to

relatively lightweight items, such as helmets and small duffle bags. But it’s nice to know that, in a pinch, the RRR could support just about anything, including an accordion. It’s a good idea, one we wish we’d thought of ourselves. Just think of all those years wasted on music lessons...
