NASTIEST NAKED?
Great the first time around, even better the second? Here's hoping that is the winning scenario for the 2006 Aprilia Tuono 1000 R. The 133-horsepower "V60 Magnesium" version of the V-Twin super-naked that earned CW Best Open-Class Streetbike honors in 2003 is virtually identical to the Italian bike-maker’s flagship superbike, the RSV 1000 R, but with even more torque at lower engine revs. In place of the RSV’s clip-on handlebars and full fairing are a wide, tubular bar and a radically styled bikini fairing that features an under-headlight intake.
Improving comfort, the bar risers and seat are lower, and the footpegs are located farther back.
For two-up (one-wheel?) travel, a passenger seat with built-in grab handles can be quickly for the standard solo tail cowling. Price has not been announced. -Matthew Miles
